Evo Bluestein American Folk Music Program, normal length is 45-50 min. without student questions

Assembly Requirements – Please Read Thoroughly!
Your close attention to these requests will make the program more effective, especially when large audiences are involved. Thank you for your cooperation.

Questions? Email or phone Evo Bluestein. (559) 297-8966.

  • PAYMENT – Unless other arrangements have been made, please have a check ready to present to per- former at the time of performance. Make check payable to Evo Bluestein.

  • STAGE – Please provide a long table, back and center of the stage. The stage area should be clean, cleared and ready for use at least 1/2 hour before performance time (preferably 1 hour).

  • PARKING/UNLOADING – Please allow parking as close to the stage entrance as possible for quick un- loading of instruments.

  • SOUND EQUIPMENT – It is preferable to have a total of 2 microphones on stands. Podium mics are not usable. If 2 mics are not available, at least 1 microphone with a stand is required. If your school does not have this much sound equipment please call Evo immediately to work out details well in advance of the show. Boom stands are preferred and cordless mics are not preferred (mics with cables don’t run on batteries).

  • REFRESHMENT – A minimum liter bottle of water provided on stage is appreciated.

  • ASSEMBLY SIZE & AUDIENCE COMPOSITION – At the elementary level, it is possible to have large assemblies with no grades excluded; however, if the enrollment is too large for the room, two assemblies can be performed back-to-back at an additional and reasonable fee. For middle and high school students, general assem- blies are available; however, combining selected classes based on academic interests is a common approach to scheduling (i.e. social studies/history/civics; drama/music; English & foreign languages).

  • SEATING – Seat students as close to the stage as possible. Folk music demands audience participation, and students enjoy having a clear view of instruments and playing techniques.

  • Q & A – Students and teachers may take notes during the program and, time-permitting, ask questions after the show. Questions and/or comments may also be emailed.

  • MERCHANDISE – Recordings, books, and instructional videos will be available for purchase. Please give teachers advance notice, so they can be prepared to purchase items, if they choose. The school may wish to make purchases as well. Cash, checks, or credit cards.

  • INDOORS/OUTDOORS Indoors is preferred. For outdoor performances, please be sure to discuss the details with Evo Bluestein well in advance. The performer and musical instruments must not be exposed to rain or direct sun. An outdoor stage re- quires a shady spot or tent cover. Unreliable weather and possible audience distractions (traffic, construction, ball games, etc.) are factors to consider when planning an outdoor acoustic music event.

  • STAFF INTRODUCTION A very brief assembly introduction by school staff that encourages appropriate concert behavior and participation (when invited) is welcome or simply indicate when all classes are in place and Evo will begin the program.
